San Diego Metalcore act, Destroy The Runner, have been teasing a “special announcement” for the past week and today the wait finally came to an end. The band officially went on hiatus 6 years ago in 2010 and announced the split on their official Myspace page…and if that doesn’t bring you a hint of nostalgia I don’t know what will. So what is this special announcement? Destroy The Runner are reuniting with their original lineup, Kyle Setter, Nick Maldonado, Marc Kohlbry and Duane Reed, to release an EP this fall! Destroy The Runner, like many other bands as of late, are turning to Indiegogo to crowdfund the effort. Below is a statement taken from the band’s Indiegogo page about the breakup and reunion.
“While we were working on our third release, a lot of factors got in the way, and ultimately led to the band’s indefinite hiatus. We weren’t certain if we’d ever make another record together again, but we knew that things didn’t end the way we wanted them to.
Over the years that followed the release of Saints, the band faced obstacles that led to both member changes and ultimately to the hiatus. The changing music industry. The health of the band as a group. Differences of opinion regarding artistic direction. The need for financially sustainable careers. The pursuit of different goals such as education and family. But despite these things, the desire to make music together never left.
Now that we’ve had time to focus on these things – and as we approach the 10-year anniversary of Saints – the four of us decided that now would be the perfect time to make music together again. We’ve already started the writing process, and couldn’t be more excited about how things are coming together.”
Let’s go help and get this record made! You can support the campaign and watch the teaser the band released below.
