Tuesday night, Halestorm rocked Rochester’s Mayo Civic Center with New Years Day and Starset. Each name on the ticket are all unique in their own way, making this one of the most musically diverse and riveting tickets of the year thus far. With three bands who’ve continued to up the ante release after release, the Halloween Scream Tour is a thrill you don’t want to miss.

New Years Day performed first, kicking things off with a wicked amount of energy. Ash Costello showed immense appreciation towards their fans, who enthusiastically and gladly returned the favor. The connection they formed with the audience was refreshing to witness, but it also made it an extremely inclusive experience. With a relentless “kill or be killed” presence, New Years Day proved to be a strong force on an already stacked ticket. Startset was next, but their set was cut short due to technical difficulties. Despite the issues, the time they had on stage provided for a very neat experience; Taking you out of the venue as you suddenly find yourself floating in outer space. Their ability to transport you into their world is remarkable, and that is only further amplified by their electrifying presence on stage.

With two phenomenal openers, headliners Halestorm had a tough act to follow, but they came out with a pure rock n’ roll attitude and absolutely set the Mayo Civic Center on fire. Lzzy Hale is insanely gifted, singing from her soul as she brought that grit and power we’ve come to love about her voice over the course of the night. Though Halestorm are serious about what they do, they don’t take themselves too seriously on stage; Best displayed when Arejay Hale broke out some hilariously oversized drumsticks. Little did we know, he’d soon actually kill a solo with them. Those little additions showed off not only the talent of the band, but also their dedication to put on an unbelievable show for their fans. With shows like this these, it’s no secret as to why they’ve grown to be such a force over the years.

From start to finish, this show was intent on leaving an impression, and the smiling faces around the room assured that it without a shadow of a doubt did.
