Performing for a sold out crowd at The Weesner Amphitheater in Apple Valley, MN – the joy on peoples’ faces was beyond magical as John Butler Trio took the stage Friday night. Like pages being written before our eyes, the John Butler Trio story continued to transcend in the music – inspiring you to the see life in a completely different way.
Displaying their insurmountable talents with an arsenal of instruments and an endless variety of brilliant ditties, there was a special surprise for JBT fans! The introduction of a new song called “Bully” – that the group has been teasing an official release of on their social media. Witnessing this in person was as special as you’d imagine it to be, and the anticipation for its release only grows with each passing day!
Joined onstage by the cheeky and charismatic Nicky Bomba, the drumming guru was a delightful surprise to the trio’s North American Tour! For many JBT fans Nicky Bomba is a familiar face and has been a huge part of the band over the years in their studio recording and touring with them across the world – so this was no ordinary stand in!
[Nicky Bomba is currently filling in on this tour for Grant Gerathy, who is enjoying the life of being a new papa – wishing him and his family nothing but the best on their new journey]!
You also can’t forget about the mysterious Byron Luiters on Bass. Lingering in the shadows to the right of John Butler, or to the left, if you’re on stage that is – Byron may be the most diligent and flawless bass player I’ve ever seen. And if you’re lucky, you may just catch a glimpse of him cracking that contagious smile at his fellow band mates from time to time.
As for the man himself, John Butler is as genuine as they come. Filled with fierce passion and unmatched potential, his nuances while performing onstage makes for a completely visceral experience – leaving you to wonder how one could conquer the impossible. What he can do as an artist and a musician, is unfathomable.
There’s not enough that can be said to express how fun and respectable these three gentlemen were, showing thee utmost love for their fans and to each other. For new and old JBT fans alike, there was a little bit of everything sprinkled into this wild night. From signature fan favorites, to some of the most legendary extended live versions of these songs that you’ll ever hear. John Butler Trio fans can only expect more wonderful things to come from this band in the future!
Their tour continues throughout the US until September 12th and is an experience you won’t want to miss my friends. You can check out their remaining dates here. Cheers!
