The Used revealed that they will be releasing their seventh studio album, The Canyon, on October 27th via Hopeless Records. Produced by Ross Robinson (The Cure, At The Drive In), their upcoming 17-track album is said to be the most personal and raw creation they have ever released.
Bert McCracken commented on their approach this time around:
I’ve learned as an artist that a great idea is such a gift. If I don’t stop whatever it is I’m doing, even if while driving, if I don’t pull over at that moment, then maybe I didn’t deserve the idea to begin with. I learned to respect and worship the ideas in that way, that they are and will always be something sacred. Stopping in that moment was a brand new approach for us during this process.
All of the notes and vocals heard on The Canyon were recorded on tape without a click track at Valentine Studio. Some of the songs even feature string arrangements and choir additions. Taking a unique approach to recording, The Used would hit record and perform the tracks as if they were on stage, without a backing track. With that said, you are sure to hear many different nuances as you dive into the record this Fall.
In addition to their album announcement, The Used have released a new song, “Over And Over Again,” which provides an exciting look into the new record. It’s different for sure, but it’s definitely not a bad thing in this case. Check it out below!

If that doesn’t get you excited enough, Bert had some final words, “That’s what this record is – it’s a moment of silence for what’s real.” You can check out the full details for The Canyon below, and you can get your preorder in for the new record at their website here.
